Baby pictures

Within a few hours, Renee and I will have a new nephew.

Pics later.

~~~ Update ~~~
Soon-to-be Big Sister Angelina getting ready head out to the hospital. She's two years old (1/31(ish?)/2005), but has the stature of a three-year-old. Even the nurses and doctors think she's three. She gets her height from her dad.
Waiting for the doctor to bring little brother back to her and mom after lil' brother's first check up.
Alexander "Young Padawan Luke" Lincoln, meeting Grandma Baker and Big sister and Aunt [Renee] Lynn. I still think naming him "Eric" was the way to go. ;p
Proud sister trying to take a turn holding all 8 lbs, 2.7 oz.s, 21 3/4" of Youngling Luke
Big huggles from Big sister
Helping Grandma out with the baby.
That's all I got for now, Renee and I both had to work today, so we didn't get a chance to take many pictures before we left.
BTW, now Renee and I were going to use "Alexander" if we were ever had a boy.... now we gotta think of something new :(
I'm back, baby
Word.
So Renee pointed out to me the other day it's been a month - give or take - since I've updated this here thingamablogger. I found it hard to believe since I spend, well most of my time on the PC typing one thing or another these days. I do most of my whining, bitching and crying these days in various essays using fancy words to disguise pointless rants as well crafted, fact based arguments. So far, no one has figured out that's what I'm doing -- or they have and just don't care.
School's going well; though the combination of bad weather and a bad cold these last couple of weeks have given me cause to rethink that a couple of times. However, whenever I return to class it doesn't seem like I'm behind on any of the material. I'll write that off to less-than-brilliant students in most of my classes. It really feels like we're moving too slow through a lot of the subjects. I kind of understand why Mrs. Ratashak used to call Grand View, "ISU for slower, richer students." Though, in reality it's not really a true statement, I can see where a visitor who spends only a few hours at the two schools could come to feel that way. I can comment more on that another time, though.
I don't really have a lot to say, but I figure I'll run down some things quickly and ramble for a bit.
First thing, first: Renee (and I in a non-vicarious, but still very imaginitive way) has joined Weight Watchers. She attended her first meeting last night (Monday) and brought us home all sorts of propaganda. Tonight we swing back into our evening/nightly trips to the gym. I want to try to get back into running again. If you'll recall in late spring/early summer last year I managed to wreck the entire summer's worth of running by over doing it early.
In an attempt to avoid that problem this year, I'm going to take it much slower. Hopefully by dropping five pounds or so before I begin to actually run. I'm going to stick with the gliders for a while and build up endurance that way. Then as soon as it warms with any frequency I'm going to start off by walking, then running. A novel idea, I know, but it seems prudent. Slowly, I'll blend in running with the walking and hopefully by late May or early June I'll be able to run a mile or so without nagging injuries. My goal is to be able to run five miles by the end of the summer without stopping and only the minorest of pain. That will be the real trick. I'm a little concerned about how my knees will take the news that I'm going to start running again. So, for now I've decided not to tell them. I'm going to wait, slowly work it into a conversation with my knees at some point. For for now, I'd appreciate no one else telling them either.
Renee's store manager has been transferred to another store. They're closing the McDonald's in Clive (the one by Ryan's) and that store manager is coming to her store in Norwalk. Renee's old manager is going to the McD's at 6th and University. The former manager there was 'canned for sexual harassment. The rumours going about are that Renee is next in-line for her own store. Whether Javier (her new boss) gets moved out of Norwalk and she takes over that store, or she gets transferred to the next opening directly, hasn't been revealed. In fact, all of this is unsubstantiated rumour, but Javier is basically going to sit back and let Renee take over most of the operations in her store. So that's kind of exciting -- or at least it would be if it were more than rumour.
As for myself all I got is classes. Well, I did get a new boss, but I'm not sure how much he likes me flexing my hours like I have. I take great liberty with my hours and do so intentionally. The only reason I really keep the job is because of that. I hate the work. I've hated the work for several years now, but I always had a super flexible schedule and I intend to keep it that way. The new boss is trying to add structure to the schedules, which is fine -- as long as it fits what I need it to do specifically.
Classes, as I said are good. I'm reading/just finished reading a fascinating book, "Crimes Against Logic" by Jamie Whyte. And other than the pretentious spelling of his last night, it's a romp. It's a hard book to explain, but definitely worth a read. I don't know how many of you would actually like it. My gut feeling is maybe only Rob would like it. Kara didn't seem to enjoy it. Whyte breaks down common phrases and misconceptions in what, essentially, become lessons on both logic and semantics. I get the impression that Whyte has become frustrated with the imprecision of the common use of the English language. There's a lot in the book that deals with strictly with false logic but chunks of the book are dedicated to common uses of words that have been corrupted, which has in turn corrupted the search for truth. Fascinating and very humourous.
Okay, that's all I care to type for now.
G'day.
